Are individual stocks a good place/sector to start spread betting with rather than currencies or commodities?

I am just wondering, I am an investor in the stock market just learning to read company balance sheets, P/E's EPS's, etc and looking to start spread betting and was just wondering if individual stocks were a good place to start my spread betting career once I've built up some capital and got a job with some practice experience? Also, would spread betting stocks be a better idea than spread betting currencies and commodities, and if so/if not, why?
