If we have icy water at 0 degrees in a beaker,If we add some salt to this beakwer, what would happen?

If we have icy water in a beaker, the temperature of the system is around 0 degrees. If we add some sodium chloride to this water, what happens to the temperature? Could you explain this using intermolecular forces???
