What do you think about the word N i g g e r ?

When it is used as a racial slur? I am half Blk and Mex., and my bf who is white, uses it when he gets upset or sometimes even casually. Growing up with Mex side of my family who was also prejudice was difficult for me.. its offensive and inappropriate.. but my bf ( who listens to the same kind of music as the " n i g g e r s" he refers to) continues to do it. I realize bad habits are hard to break, but he even went as far as to say that I had a ***** nose.. I am conflicted..and hurt opinions are welcome. Save the mean remarks.
